There’s no question that truck drivers have been working harder this year than ever before, making sure that America’s goods have kept moving throughout all the challenges of 2020. While other people have stayed home, our drivers have been on the frontlines to deliver food, medical supplies and other important items to their destinations. As an industry we’ve always looked forward to National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) to take the time to honor driving professionals for all the hard work they do. Now more than ever, we want to make sure our drivers feel noticed, appreciated, and encouraged. This year’s NTDAW takes place September 13-19, 2020. In appreciation for all you do, we at Averitt Express have some fun things planned that you won’t want to miss. 

While the global pandemic has had a dramatic impact on just about everyone and everything, it hasn’t dampened the giving spirit of the Averitt team. Despite the challenges of social distancing and sheltering in place, our associates have continued to participate in our Team Up Community Challenge in creative ways.

It’s hard to imagine a year that has thrown bigger challenges our way than 2020. Thankfully, Averitt driving associates have stepped up once again to accept these challenges each day – just as we have for nearly 50 years. Customers have noticed and Averitt is growing again! We’re looking for drivers who want to improve their driving career with a company dedicated to its people and committed to offering more than cents per mile to make it all worthwhile. Meal planning is one of the key components to eating healthy on the road as a truck driver. When you don’t have a solid plan going into your week, it’s easy to fall back into bad habits or grab whatever’s quickest - but not necessarily the healthiest - when you make a stop. Meal planning can sound overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Jeff Langlois, one of our driving associates, is a rock star at meal planning and prep. We’d like to share some of his favorite meals and cooking tips.

As we say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020, this is a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and decide how we want to move forward into the new year. Making New Year’s resolutions is something many people do in order to get their year started off on the right foot. While it’s easy to make these resolutions with the best of intentions, it can be hard to stick with them as the year goes on. We’ve put together some of our favorite tips for truck drivers. You can incorporate them into your personal and professional goals whether it’s this January or well into 2020. It’s never too late to make some changes!
