We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year! In 1971, Gary Sasser purchased a small carrier called Averitt Express. At the time, it had only two associates, three tractors and five trailers. From that beginning, we’ve grown a company that has made a huge impact on the trucking industry and the communities we serve. Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse: A Year Later

The FMCSA’s Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse site, designed to house drug and alcohol violation data and help streamline the hiring process, went live in January 2020. Since then, about 197,000 employers - a third of which identify as owner-operators - and 1.6 million drivers registered in the Clearinghouse, according to FMCSA. In the United States, it is estimated that 18,000-20,000 victims are trafficked every year. Traffickers often use our country’s transportation system to move their victims. It is professional truck drivers like you, who continuously drive these roadways, that are in the best position to recognize and report possible human trafficking situations.
