Human trafficking is a major global issue. The multibillion-dollar industry worldwide is a modern form of slavery with approximately 21 million victims. In the United States, it is estimated that 18,000-20,000 victims are trafficked every year. Traffickers often use our country’s transportation system to move their victims. It is professional truck drivers like you, who continuously drive these roadways, that are in the best position to recognize and report possible human trafficking situations. So what can you do to help? Robert Sims, an Averitt driving associate domiciled in Columbia, SC, is an avid cyclist who keeps rolling whether on his bicycle or in his truck.
“Becoming a professional truck driver was something on my bucket list, but I wanted to be sure I did not jeopardize my health by sitting all day,” Robert says. “I had some pretty traumatic spine injuries and surgery and knew I needed to keep moving to stay healthy and strong.”

St. Jude Highlights the Power of One and Averitt's 30 Year Commitment
Our team was recently featured on a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital blog post that highlighted the positive impact of the Averitt Cares for Kids program, the longest-running company giving program in St. Jude’s history. Since 1990, more than $8 million has been donated from Averitt associates to St. Jude.
