Averitt's Driver Appreciation Week 2024: A Celebration of Dedication and Professionalism
Sep 27, 2024 8:28:49 AM
Our associates are the backbone of everything we do. During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW), we take the opportunity to recognize their contributions that go above and beyond. Across our service centers, we organized events to celebrate, honor, and say a heartfelt thank you to the men and women who keep us moving.
Here’s a look at just a few of the many activities and special moments from Driver Appreciation Week 2024 across our network:
Tyler, TX: Celebrating the Pioneers
In Tyler, the celebrations were about recognizing our associates today and respecting the foundation they’ve helped build. The Tyler service center began with just one dock door 24 years ago. Jason Whitaker, our first service center director, reflected on how far we’ve come, along with Bryan Walters, our current service center director. We were also honored to celebrate Bud Reed, who started as a part-time dock associate and now serves as a frontline leader, and Allen Ross, a day-one associate who has been a key part of Tyler’s growth. Their stories
reminded us of the incredible journey we’ve shared.
Cookeville, TN: Taking Pride in Every Ride
Cookeville’s celebrations served as a reminder that our drivers not only deliver results but also uphold the highest standards of professionalism and pride. Kevin Duncan, known for keeping his truck in pristine condition, had a clear message for the week: "Take pride in your ride!" His attention to detail and passion for the job inspired all of us to strive for excellence every day.
Harlingen, TX: A Week of Togetherness
Team Harlingen kicked off Driver Appreciation Week with a delicious breakfast for all associates. The celebrations continued later on with a cookout, where both regional truckload and shuttle associates came together to enjoy great food and even better company. A special highlight was the recognition of Boyd Suitor, a driver who celebrated 20 years with us. The Harlingen team did an outstanding job bringing everyone together for a fun and memorable week.
Chattanooga, TN: Honoring a Hero
In Chattanooga, Frank Burke, a truckload driver who hit his 20-year milestone in February, was celebrated for his incredible service. The celebration wouldn’t have been complete without a Waffle Iron breakfast, adding a touch of sweetness to the recognition of Frank’s achievements and the hard work of all our Chattanooga associates.
Nashville, TN: Waffles and Appreciation
Nashville’s associates were also treated to a visit from the Waffle Iron food truck. Associates enjoyed a warm, delicious breakfast before hitting the road. The event was a great way to bring the Nashville team together while showing our appreciation for all they do every day.
Atlanta West, GA: Coming Together
Associates in Atlanta West came together for a day filled with recognition of years of service and camaraderie. While the week focused on the professional drivers behind the wheel, the team spirit and participation from everyone made it clear that we’re all in this together, working to achieve our shared goals.
Richmond, VA: Snacks and Barbecue Galore
Richmond associates enjoyed: "Snacky Day" on Tuesday and a
barbecue feast on Wednesday. The team effort in pulling off these events highlighted the close-knit environment that defines our service centers and how much we value every one of our hardworking, dedicated associates.
Tri-Cities, TN: A Barbecue Feast
In Tri-Cities, a barbecue meal was the perfect way to wrap up Driver Appreciation Week. It was a time for associates to sit down, enjoy a delicious, well-deserved meal, and reflect on their essential role in keeping our customers’ goods moving and America running smoothly.
Driver Appreciation Week with us is always special, but this year’s celebrations were
exceptional. Across our service centers, the energy was high, the food was plentiful, and the appreciation was genuine. Whether it was breakfast, barbecue, or simply a moment to reflect, we took the time to recognize the professionalism, dedication, and pride our associates bring to the road every day.
We know that our success is built by our associates' passion, skill, and commitment, and we’re proud to celebrate them not just during Driver Appreciation Week, but every day of the year. To all professional drivers: Thank you for your dedication to the road and commitment to excellence. We recognize the value of drivers like you and invite you to see what makes us different.
